Youth stabbed to death in Zirakpur
A 24-year-old youth was stabbed to death when he and his friends tried to stop a group of youths from thrashing a boy on the VIP Road last night. The victim, Rahul Bansal, was a native of Gidderbaha in Punjab and lived in Zirakpur.
His friend, Goldy said he and his two friends, including the victim, were going to a pizza shop when they saw a few youths thrashing a boy near Pentahomes. They got off their vehicle and tried to pacify the youths. The injured boy got into the car with Rahul as his friends tried to stop the youths from hitting the former. After sometime, a few more youths joined the assailants.
The police said in the melee, someone stabbed Bansal repeatedly, after which the assailants fled the spot. Meanwhile, the boy also ran away.
Rahul was rushed to a private hospital on the VIP Road and was later taken to Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, where the doctors declared him dead on arrival. On a complaint filed by his brother, the police registered a murder case against unidentified persons.
The Zirakpur Station House Officer, Jaskanwal Singh Shekhon, said, “We are investigating the matter. The police have identified the assailants and they will be arrested soon.”
