Zirakpur gets power infra projects worth Rs 274 crore

Power infrastructure upgrade projects worth Rs 274 crore were inaugurated for various parts of Zirakpur today.

Speaking on the occasion, Dera Bassi MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa said that the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has launched power infrastructure projects worth Rs 5,000 crore across the state to minimise power cuts and enhance supply reliability.

In the Zirakpur Municipal Corporation area alone, projects worth Rs 69.12 crore have been initiated. The works include installation of new feeders and transformers, upgradation of existing smaller transformers, enhancement of substation power transformers and replacement of old conductors and cables.

The 11 KV Preet Colony, Seven Star, Savitri Green, Punjab, Sukhna, Alwin, Preetham and Ambala Road feeders have been bifurcated, while new 11 KV GBM, Dayalpura, Green Valley, and Cosmo feeders have been commissioned.

To further reduce power outages in the area falling under the civic body area, Rs 4.76 crore has been allocated for feeder de-loading, Rs 2.42 crore for installation of new transformers and another Rs 4.76 crore for transformer augmentation. A major plan worth Rs 180-200 crore is underway for establishing new 66 kV and 220 kV substations.

Additionally, Rs 11.42 crore will be spent on addition and augmentation of power transformers and Rs 14.01 crore on 66 kV line works. Under the RDSS scheme, improvement projects worth Rs 57.18 crore are also being implemented.
