To promote awareness and action against single-use plastic (SUP) waste by showcasing viable alternatives, the Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee (CPCC) today organised a workshop ‘Eco-Chandigarh: Embracing a Plastic-Free Future’ at the Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector 42.

An exhibition of eco-alternatives of single-use plastic was inaugurated by Environment Secretary Mandip Singh Brar, who was chief guest. He emphasised incorporation of alternatives to SUP in day-to-day life starting from home to community level leading to behavioural change. Drawing the attention of audience to exhibition stalls, he stressed that awareness is key as alternatives to SUP exist in competitive price range.

Over a dozen exhibitors are displaying their products, making it a collection of alternatives to single-use plastic to be adopted.

In his keynote address, Saurabh Kumar, Member Secretary, CPCC, emphasised the importance of awareness in enabling citizens to shift away from harmful plastic.
