CM Rekha resumes public hearings at Jan Seva Sadan

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta resumed public hearings at the newly inaugurated Mukhyamantri Jan Seva Sadan in the Civil Lines here on Wednesday, pledging to make citizen grievance redressal more structured, accessible and solution-oriented.

The Chief Minister heard complaints and suggestions of residents for two hours, assuring them that her government is committed to “not just hearing, but resolving” their concerns.

The session, which was held from 8 am to 10 am, witnessed active participation from a large number of residents, who raised issues related to crime, water supply, education, health, roads and encroachments.

Senior officers from several departments, including Delhi Jal Board, Education, Health, Police and MCD, were also present on the spot.

The Chief Minister issued on-the-spot directions for time-bound resolution of complaints, reaffirming that her government’s mission is to build a “sensitive, empowered and just Delhi.”

Previously, such hearings were held at her Shalimar Bagh residence, often spilling onto the roadside due to huge crowds. The new Jan Seva Sadan at the Civil Lines, which is equipped with better facilities and dedicated arrangements for visitors, marks a formal shift to a more organised system of direct citizen-government interaction.

Addressing the gathering, Gupta said: “Today, I not only listened to people’s problems but also saw their faith that this government is committed to finding solutions.”

She described the Jan Seva Sadan as a bridge between governance and the people, and underlined that public hearings are a vital proof of Delhi’s living democracy.

The CM concluded by reiterating that her government stands for responsive and people-centric governance. “Our government considers the people’s pain as its own. Jan Seva Sadan will not only bring governance closer to citizens but also reaffirm that this is a responsive, sensitive and people-centric government. We are here not to rule, but to serve,” she said.
