Chandigarh: Congress councillors decry rejection of key agenda
Senior Deputy Mayor Jasbir Singh Bunty, Deputy Mayor Taruna Mehta and councillor Premlata have alleged that an important agenda passed unanimously in the last meeting of the Municipal Corporation has been cancelled unconstitutionally.
In a release issued today, the Congress and AAP councillors termed the step as a waste of public money.
They said in the MC meeting held in April the agenda to operate the Horticulture Waste Plant by a public sector undertaking (PSU ) was unanimously passed. The PSU company was not only willing to pay about Rs 5 lakh every month to the corporation, it had also planned to set up a new plant of 60-70 TPD (tonnes per day) capacity at its expense.
However, they claimed, during the confirmation of the minutes of the passed agenda in the monthly house meeting in June, the resolution was cancelled and it was decided to hand over the work to the old private company.
