Tarn Taran EO, 2 others held for embezzlement of Nagar Council funds

Case registered on the basis of an inquiry initiated after checking of records by the Local Government Department.

The Vigilance Bureau (VB) has registered a case against son and daughter-in-law of late former Tarn Taran MLA, Executive Officer (EO) and clerk of Nagar Council and a firm owner on the charge of embezzlement of funds of the civic body. A VB spokesperson said a case was registered on the basis of an inquiry initiated after checking of records by the Local Government Department.

The spokesperson said those booked, include Tarn Taran Nagar Council EO Sharanjeet Kaur and clerk Narinder Kumar, late former MLA Dharamvir Agnihotri’s son Sandeep Kumar Agnihotri and his daughter-in-law Jyoti Sachdeva, owners of M/s MK Padam Petroleum and Rajiv Gupta, a resident of New Pawan Nagar, Amritsar, a shareholder in M/s Sharp Focus Vision Pvt Ltd and M/s SR Enterprises Ltd. He said the EO, clerk and Gupta were arrested by the police

The spokesperson said during probe, it came to light that fraudulent transactions were done by the EO from 2017 to 2022. She had made wrong payments through cheques to M/s Sidhu Construction Company, M/s Brother Construction Company and M/s Friends Association from different heads. Besides, the EO had made bogus payments to Sandeep Kumar Agnihotri’s companies, he added.
