Paddy stubble-burning: Barnala DC issues notices to Tehsildar, DSP, SHO

37 FIRs registered and as many red entries made in revenue records of errant farmers, says DC

Taking serious note of paddy stubble found burning in certain areas of the district, Barnala Deputy Commissioner T Benith today issued notices to Barnala Naib Tehsildar, DSP and SHO of Sadar Barnala police station for alleged dereliction of duty.

During an inspection conducted today, fire incidents were found in the areas allocated to these three officers.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration was on toes to ensure that not even single paddy straw field is set on fire.

He added that 37 FIRs had been registered and as many red entries made in the revenue records of the farmers in whose field the stubble was found burning.

Apart from this, a fine of Rs 1.95 lakh has been imposed on the errants, he said.
