4 teams to conduct physical verification of rice mills in Kaithal
To submit stock report in a week | Process to be videographed
Four teams led by three SDMs and a tehsildar have been constituted to carry out the verification process of rice mills in the district, and submit a report in seven days.
Deputy Commissioner Preeti has ordered the verification of the mills. During a high-level meeting on October 25 regarding paddy and bajra procurement, CM Nayab Singh Saini had expressed concern over complaints of paddy being transported from other states and irregularities in gate passes in various districts. Taking a strict stance, the government directed that physical verification be conducted at mills located in Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, and Kaithal, where paddy has been allocated.
The CM had instructed district officials to visit mandis regularly and interact with farmers. He also emphasised that mills receiving paddy allocations must be physically verified at regular intervals, warning that any negligence or corruption would invite strict and immediate action.
Kaithal is among the districts that has recorded high arrival compared to last season. All the grain markets recorded an arrival of 8,88,517 MT till November 5, while in the corresponding duration last season the arrival was 8,01,755 MT. A total of 171 mills have been allotted for custom-milled rice (CMR). The teams will be headed by Guhla SDM Parmesh Kumar, Kaithal tehsildar Ravinder Hooda, Kalayat SDM Ajay Hooda, and Kaithal SDM Ajay Singh.
“The teams have been directed to complete the verification within seven days and submit reports to the office of the District Food and Supplies Controller (DFSC). Videography of the process will be carried out, and a separate record of paddy stocks not meant for custom milling will be maintained. Each team will prepare a site plan of the stock allocated for CMR,” the DC said in her order.
The milling capacity of each miller will be verified as per agreement, and suitable police assistance will be provided to teams.
Kaithal DFSC Nishant Rathi said everything was now being videographed by market committee officials and the purchase was being done after checking the farmers.
