Shimla, February 14
Congress Working Committee (CWC) member and AICC In-charge for Himachal, Rajni Patil today said the new body of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee would be constituted shortly after forging consensus among all senior leaders.
Addressing a press conference here today, Patil said consultations were being held with all the leaders so that the party could unitedly take on the “divisive and communal politics” of the BJP. It was almost three months back that the HPCC was dissolved by the high command but the new body is yet to be constituted.
“We have only last week received the recommendations from the state Congress president and shortly after holding discussion with all senior leaders, we will declare the body,” she remarked.
Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee president Kuldeep Rathore had appointed 36 Block Congress Committee (BCC) presidents in consultation with the sitting MLAs or senior leaders of the Assembly segment.
In the absence of the state body, the Congress functions and programmes have come to a virtual halt. It is only after the new body is constituted that the party can gear up its cadres to take on the BJP and prepare for the 2022 assembly polls.
Patil mocked at the Jai Ram-led BJP regime in the state for camping in Delhi to campaign for the BJP in the Assembly polls. “It was not just the CM, but his entire cabinet, MPs and MLAs who camped in Delhi for more than a fortnight, leaving the state in the lurch,” she remarked.
