1,184 fresh cases in J&K, 61 in Ladakh

Srinagar/Leh, June 8

Eleven Covid-related deaths and 1,184 new cases were reported in J&K during the last 24 hours, officials said on Tuesday. Ladakh recorded 61 fresh cases, taking the overall tally to 19,258, while the active cases in the region dropped to 1,011.

J&K officials said 421 cases and five deaths were reported from the Jammu division and 763 cases and six deaths from the Kashmir division while 2,880 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery. The caseload stands at 3,02,651 and the death toll is 4,101. As many as 276,733 patients have recovered and the active cases are 21,817. Another case of mucormycosis was reported, taking the number of black fungus cases so far in the UT to 17.

In Ladakh, 195 Covid deaths have taken place since the virus outbreak last year. Of the new Ladakh cases, 58 people tested positive in Leh, taking the infection tally in the district to 15,912. — IANS/PTI
