Vaccination rate improves to 61.5% in Panchkula dist

Panchkula, January 19

The district witnessed 61.5 per cent vaccination rate as 430 health workers were inoculated today against the target of 699 set by the Health Department, showing a jump of about 51 per cent as compared to Monday.

The drive was carried out at five centres in the district — Sub-Divisional Hospital, Kalka, Primary Health Centre, Pinjore, Alchemist Hospital and civil dispensaries in Sector 4 and 7.

The district had witnessed the lowest vaccination rate on Monday as only 10 per cent health workers showed up for vaccination against the target of 150 set by the health authorities.

On January 16, the district had witnessed the highest vaccination rate of 94.7 per cent as 267 health workers were vaccinated against the targeted 282.

A total of 690 health workers of the set target of 1,131 have been vaccinated so far.

The Panchkula Heath Department has identified around 9,000 health care and frontline workers, including Army personnel from the Chandimandir cantonment, to be inoculated in the first phase. So far, the district has received 9,000 doses, which would meet only 50 per cent requirement.

At present, the Health Department has set the target of vaccinating 6,219 health workers, including 3,541 government and 2,678 private health care workers in the district.

Civil Surgeon Dr Jasjit Kaur said officers and the deputy civil surgeons deployed for vaccination had been directed to motivate health workers. She said she had directed the deputy civil surgeons for supervision at each site tomorrow so that better results could be achieved.
