Covid: Finally, JMC to spray sodium hypo solution in city

The Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) wakes up from slumber and decided to spray sodium hypo solution in Jammu city, especially in affected areas where Covid case was reported.

The corporation had come under criticism for its lethargic approach and continued delay in carrying our sterilisation in the city, especially in affected areas where Covid patients were detected.

While the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has deployed teams with specialised equipment and hazmat suits, the JMC had not taken such steps.

Addressing a press conference, Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta revealed that the corporation had constituted special teams to carry out sanitation and sterilisation by spraying disinfectants in vulnerable areas.

“In view of the current situation regarding possible spread of Covid, directions have been given to health officer, JMC, to spray sodium hypo solution in the affected areas on a war-footing to keep check on the spread of virus,” said Gupta.

Special drives shall also be conducted in all residential and commercial areas of Jammu.

He said the JMC was taking measures to stop coronavirus by giving special focus on sanitation. “Intensive thermal fogging and spraying has already been started in many areas so that the chances of virus transmission to others can be minimised”.

Besides, special drive has been conducted in all city hospitals of Jammu like Government Medical College, Bakshi Nagar, Sarwal Hospital, Gandhi Nagar Hospital, SMGS Hospital, CD Hospital and Super Specialty Hospital.

The Mayor and Commissioner, JMC, also urged the public to avoid major gatherings in public places and make use of alcohol-based sanitisers and masks as preventive measure to do away with this menace and also to extend their full cooperation to the Jammu Municipal Corporation so that coronavirus can be stopped from spreading.
