‘I saw Virat Kohli crying in the bathroom after 2019 World Cup loss’: Yuzvendra Chahal
Team India spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has opened up about some of the most emotional moments in the dressing room after the 2019 World Cup semifinal loss to New Zealand.
Speaking in a candid interview on Raj Shamani’s YouTube podcast, Chahal revealed, “2019 World Cup, I saw him (Virat Kohli) crying in the bathroom. I was the last batter, and when I crossed him, he had tears in his eyes. Everyone was crying that day.”
The spinner also compared the leadership styles of Virat and Rohit Sharma. “I love how Rohit bhaiya carries himself on the ground. He is a very good captain. With Virat bhaiya, it is the energy, the same energy every day. It only goes up and never down,” he said.
Chahal also spoke openly about his divorce with choreographer Dhanashree Verma.
Breaking his silence for the first time since his split, the cricketer said, “When my divorce happened, people alleged me of being a cheater. I have never cheated in my life. I am not that kind of person. You won’t find anyone more loyal than me.”

Chahal added that the couple had been discussing separation for some time before it became public, but the narrative was hijacked by online speculation. “When people don’t know anything but keep blaming me, you start thinking (otherwise),” he said.
