In a heartwarming gesture, singer Shreya Ghoshal visited the Indian Women’s Cricket Team in their dressing room to motivate the players before the start of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, as seen in a now-viral video.

The interaction took place ahead of India’s World Cup opener against Sri Lanka on September 30 and provided a significant morale boost for the ‘Women in Blue’. The atmosphere was light and cheerful as the team welcomed the artist. Players confirmed they were “big fan[s]” of Ghoshal, with spinner Radha Yadav noted as being “especially thrilled”.

Ghoshal cracked jokes with the players in the heartwarming exchange and delighted the squad with a rendition of “Piyu Bole” from the film “Parineeta”. Addressing the athletes afterwards, Ghoshal offered powerful encouragement, stating, “I’m praying for your victory. The entire country is rooting for your victory”.

Ghoshal’s previously captivated audiences at the opening ceremony of the 13th edition of the World Cup in Guwahati on September 30, where she sang several famous songs, and performed the Indian national anthem. She also performed the official ODI World Cup anthem, “Bring It Home”.

The team, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, now rides a wave of high morale following their semi-final victory over Australia. They prepare to contest the highly anticipated final against South Africa, as both teams seek their maiden title.

The championship match is scheduled for Sunday, November 2, 2025, at 3 pm.
