Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday met the Indian team players to congratulate them on their historic win in the inaugural Blind Women’s T20 World Cup. India clinched the title by defeating Nepal by seven wickets in the final, remaining unbeaten throughout the tournament.

The win came just days after the Indian women’s cricket team lifted its first ever ODI World Cup trophy, marking an extraordinary phase for women’s cricket in the country.

During the interaction, the team gifted an autographed bat to the Prime Minister, while Modi signed a cricket ball for the squad. He applauded the players for their determination, discipline, and commitment to the sport.

Following the team’s World Cup victory earlier this week, the Prime Minister had taken to social media to celebrate the achievement, posting: “This is indeed a historic sporting achievement, a shining example of hardwork, team work and determination. Each player is a champion! My best wishes to the team for their future endeavours. This feat will inspire generations to come.”

The team’s victory sparked widespread celebrations across the country and is being hailed as a major milestone for inclusivity in Indian sports. Many believe the success of the women’s blind team will encourage more aspiring players with disabilities to pursue competitive sports.
