Two days after a 28-year-old woman’s body was found in the Dhanas forest area, the police have arrested a man in the case.
The suspect has been identified as Suraj, a resident of Bardana Market, Sector 26. A case under Sections 105 (culpable homicide) and 238 (concealing evidence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered against him at the Sarangpur Police Station.
The complainant, Mohmad Irsad, a resident of EWS Colony, Dhanas, stated that Suraj was seen walking with the deceased, Raveena from Bapu Dham Colony, at Sukhna Lake. During the walk, the woman was allegedly bitten by a snake. Suraj reportedly made her sit in his rickshaw and drove towards the GMSH in Sector 16. However, he found her unresponsive near the slip road, and allegedly disposed of the body in bushes along the road between Dhanas Lake and Khuda Lahora.
Forensic teams are examining the area where the body was recovered, and officials are also probing whether others were involved in the act or if there is any attempt to mislead the investigation.
