The Delhi Police on Saturday arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly opening fire outside a house in Mustafabad, North-East Delhi. A country-made pistol used in the crime has been recovered from his possession, officials said.
According to the police, the incident took place around 6:30 am near 25 Foota Road in front of Qabristan, Mustafabad.
The complainant, Sirajuddin (65), told the police that while he was going to buy milk, he noticed a man sitting outside his house. When he asked the man to sit elsewhere, an argument broke out.
After sometime, the man returned and allegedly fired a shot at the complainant’s house before fleeing the spot.
Following the incident, a case was registered under Sections 115(2), 324(6) and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 27 of the Arms Act at the Dayalpur police station.
A team led by Inspector Paramveer Singh Dahiya, SHO Dayalpur, began investigation into the case. Based on evidence and clues, the accused, identified as Mustkeem (35), a resident of Old Mustafabad, was arrested.
The police said forensic experts had collected evidence from the scene. Further investigation was on to determine the motive behind the firing.
