PM to gift Rs 11,000-crore projects to Haryana on August 17: CM Saini
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will gift major infrastructure projects to the state on August 17.
Speaking during a press conference, the CM said the Prime Minister will gift six roads, built at a cost of Rs 11,000 crore, from Rohini in Delhi to the National Capital Region (NCR). These include the construction of two new four-lane connecting roads for Sonipat and Bahadurgarh under the Urban Extension Road-2 project, worth about Rs 2,000 crore.
The NCR region will get relief from traffic jams and connectivity challenges, he added.
“These projects reflect our double-engine government’s commitment to developing world-class infrastructure and addressing connectivity and traffic congestion issues in the NCR,” said Saini.
Earlier, the Chief Minister began the press conference by paying tribute to former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna awardee Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary.
“Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji changed the dimension of Indian politics. Today’s opposition should read his biography and learn how he spoke for the common people,” he said.
Speaking on Deendayal Upadhyay Antyodaya Parivar Suraksha Yojana, Saini said that the government has run many such schemes which are for the people affected due to any natural disaster or illness.
Deendayal Upadhyay Antyodaya Parivar Suraksha Yojana started on April 1, 2023. Till now, financial assistance of Rs 1,380 crore has been given to 36, 651 families under the scheme, the CM informed.
Under the scheme, financial assistance of up to Rs 5 lakh is provided to families with an annual income of up to Rs 1.8 lakh in cases of death or disability of a family member.
On the prevailing law and order situation in the state, Saini said, “Maintaining law and order is the top priority of the government. No matter how influential a person is, if they act outside the law, they will not be spared. In the coming times, stringent measures will be taken. Anyone who commits a crime will be crushed.”
The Chief Minister also gave a stern warning to those involved in drug trafficking.
“The government is working to break the back of drug smugglers,” he asserted.
