Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra is AOC-in-C, Western Air Command
Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra, a fighter pilot of December 1986 seniority, assumed charge as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the IAF's Western Air Command on Wednesday.
Prior to this, he was the Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Operations). He takes over from Air Marshal Pankaj Mohan Sinha, who retired on Tuesday.
A Fighter Combat Leader and an Experimental Test Pilot, Air Marshal Mishra has more than 3,000 hours of flying experience on various types of aircraft.
He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Kharakvasla, Air Force Test Pilots School, Bangalore, Air Command and Staff College, USA and Royal College of Defence Studies, UK.
In his service career spanning over 38 years, he has been commanding officer of a fighter squadron, chief test pilot at the Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment (ASTE), Air Officer Commanding of two frontline air bases and Principal Director, Operational Planning and Assessment Group.
He has also served as the Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Projects) at Air HQs, Commandant ASTE and Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Doctrine, Organisation and Training).
Air Marshal Mishra is a recipient of ‘Ati Vishisht Seva Medal’ and ‘Vishisht Seva Medal’ for distinguished service.
