DRDO chief Samir V Kamat gets one-year extension
The Central Government has extended the tenure of Dr Samir V. Kamat, Secretary, Department of Defence Research and Development and Chairman, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), by one year.
This is the second extension for the DRDO chief, who had assumed office in August 2022.
The Cabinet Committee on Appointments has approved and extension in his term from June 1, 2025 to May 31, 2026, or till further orders, according to a communique issued by the Department of Personnel and Training on May 26.
An alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and the Ohio State University, USA, Dr Kamat had joined DRDO in 1989 and was earlier Director General (Naval Systems and Materials).
