Govt to implement Health Management Info System

Aiming to modernise Delhi’s healthcare system, the Delhi Government is set to implement a Health Management Information System (HMIS) across all government-run hospitals.

The decision was taken following a high-level review meeting chaired by Health Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh, with participation from senior officials of National Informatics Centre (NIC), Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC) and the Delhi Health Department.

The HMIS will offer a unified digital platform covering patient registration, appointments, diagnostics, billing, ward management and discharge summaries. Integrated with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), the system will enable citizens to access medical records, prescriptions and lab reports through mobile apps and WhatsApp.

Dr Singh said: “We are working towards a single digital health platform where real-time data from all hospitals — from primary health centres to super speciality hospitals — can be viewed through one unified dashboard. This will help monitor bed availability, medicine stocks, diagnostics and medical trends citywide.”

A centralised healthcare control room will be established to function as the command centre for monitoring services and generating insights for effective governance. Equipped with a robust dashboard, it will offer real-time updates on resource utilisation, bed occupancy and testing trends.

During a visit to Janakpuri Super Speciality Hospital, the minister reviewed existing facilities and reiterated the government’s commitment to revive the hospital’s reputation. “Our priority is to ensure better treatment and modern facilities for every patient. We are committed to restoring the past glory of this hospital,” Dr. Singh said.
