According to police, the incident occurred around 7 pm near VP School in Sector 22. Himanshu was standing nearby when three young men on a motorcycle snatched his phone and sped off. He began chasing them, but the accused stopped in a dark alley near the thermal power plant, surrounded him and stabbed him before escaping.

After receiving information, the boy’s family reached the spot and rushed him to a nearby private hospital.

Himanshu’s father, Pawan Verma, alleged that although he had lodged a complaint on Monday night, a policeman reached the hospital only at noon on Tuesday, saying the complaint had not been received.

“An FIR has been registered. It has been found that the injured and the accused knew each other. The case is being investigated,” said Sub-Inspector Kailash Khatana, in-charge of the Sanjay Colony police chowki.
