2 arrested after scuffle
The police arrested two persons for assault and brandishing a gun during a scuffle between two groups near the Nirman Vihar metro station early on Friday morning. The accused had been identified as Talib and Bilal, the police said.
According to police officials, a PCR call was received at the Preet Vihar police station regarding the incident. After getting information, cops rushed to the spot. They started probe into the incident and collected CCTV footage from nearby shops.
A senior police official said: “During investigation, they recorded the statement of Bharat Sharma, a complainant and party organiser at Nyt Life Café. He claimed that he, along with his friends Pankaj Sharma and Jasmeet Singh, had an altercation with Talib and Bilal outside the café between 4 am and 5 am. The two accused, who were previously employed at the café, allegedly misbehaved with them and used abusive language, apparently due to jealousy.”
The official said: “The complainant alleged that the duo assaulted him and his friends. Talib reportedly brandished a firearm in the air on the service road near Vikas Marg during the confrontation.”
Based on the complainant’s statement and CCTV analysis, a case has been registered under Sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 351(2) (criminal intimidation) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act at the Preet Vihar police station.
“Talib and Bilal have been arrested. Further investigations are on in this case,” the police official said.
