The Delhi Police in the early hours of Monday arrested two suspects, who were allegedly involved in the murder of Suraj Mann in Noida, after a brief exchange of fire in Sarai Kale Khan. The two assailants were identified as Kuldeep and Abdul Kadir.
On January 19, Suraj, brother of gangster Parvesh Mann, was killed in an indiscriminate firing at Sector 104 in Noida.
The police said Suraj was working with Air India as a crew member and residing with his family in Noida. He was on his way to a gym near his residence, when three bike-borne assailants fired at him.
Parvesh, who is currently in jail in a MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act) case, is a key member of the Neeraj Bawania gang.
Parvesh and Kallu Kheda, member of the Lawrence Bishnoi-Gogi gang, were involved in a gang rivalry. The police said the rivalry began in July 2018, when Parvesh killed Kallu’s uncle and later his father in 2022. In the ensuing rivalry, Kallu murdered Parvesh’s cousin in 2019 and now his brother.
Amit Goel, Crime Branch, New Delhi, said, “After a brief exchange of fire, near Sarai Kale Khan bus stand in Delhi on January 22, the two accused involved in the killing of Suraj Mann were arrested.”
“When police team tried to apprehend them, they opened fire upon the police party. In retaliation and in order to apprehend the assailants, the police team also fired in self defence. In the ensuing encounter, both the assailants, who were overpowered by the police team, sustained gunshot injuries in their legs,” he added.
The police said, “Kuldeep contacted Kallu, who assigned them the task to commit murder of someone from the rival gang.” The police have also recovered two 0.32 bore automatic pistols, six 7.65 mm live cartridges and six empty cartridges used by the assailants.
