During the operation, the prime accused, identified as Aman, alias Buddha (19), was apprehended. The police said preliminary findings indicate that a quarrel between the accused and the victim escalated, leading to the stabbing.

Officers said efforts were underway to trace the remaining accused who were present during the incident.

A case under relevant sections of the BNS was registered at the Govindpuri police station. Search operations continued through Friday. The police said more arrests were expected as the inquiry progresses.

In another incident, a 25-year-old man was stabbed to death in New Usmanpur late on Thursday night, the police said on Saturday. JPC Hospital informed the police around 11:40 pm that an injured man from Bhagat Singh Mohalla had been brought in by a friend and was declared “dead on arrival”.

The police said a case under relevant sections of the BNS was registered at the New Usmanpur police station. The body was shifted to GTB Hospital for post-mortem examination.

After the incident, forensic teams inspected the crime spot and collected evidence. The police also enquired people in the locality to identify those involved.

During investigation, three persons, including two children in conflict with law (CCLs), were apprehended. The knife used in the assault was recovered from one of the accused.
