The Delhi Police, in coordination with the Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) of the Jharkhand Police, arrested two persons linked to a suspected ISIS-inspired terror module, police sources said on Wednesday.

The accused have been identified as Aftab, who was arrested from Southeast Delhi, and Danish, who was nabbed from Ranchi, Jharkhand.

A senior police officer said Danish, a resident of Bokaro, was apprehended from a lodge in Islam Nagar, Ranchi, while Aftab, a resident of Maharashtra, was arrested in Delhi in the morning hours.

“It is suspected that the duo were a part of a plan to execute a terror activity in Delhi-NCR. They were also believed to be in touch with a terror module operating from abroad,” the officer added.

For the past three days, raids are being conducted across five states, including Delhi, Jharkhand and Maharashtra, to track down the members of this module. Eight other suspects taken into custody are being interrogated by the Special Cell, NIA, IB and other central agencies.

During the inspection of a lodge room where Danish was staying, the Special Cell team recovered several objectionable items.

On Tuesday, the Delhi Police Special Cell busted an espionage module linked to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) with the arrest of a 43-year-old man accused of supplying SIM cards that were later used by operatives across the border.
