20-yr-old kills three of his family
In a shocking development in the National Capital, the Delhi Police arrested a 20-year-old for allegedly stabbing his parents and sister to death in a fit of rage. He felt victimised after constantly being publicly thrashed by his father, an ex-serviceman, senior police officials said on Wednesday. Besides, the accused Arjun reportedly harboured resentment over his father’s decision to allocate property to his sister, Kavita.
According to the police, the crime came to light early on the morning of December 4, when a PCR call was received at 6:53 am regarding injuries to three persons in the Neb Sarai area. On arriving at the scene of crime, the police found the bodies of Rajesh Kumar (51), his wife Komal (46), and their daughter Kavita (23) lying in pools of blood with stab wounds.
Arjun initially told the police that he had gone for a morning walk at 5:30 am and returned to find his family members dead.
A South District Police team under the supervision of DCP of the district analysed CCTV footage from the vicinity, and conducted detailed inquiries from neighbours and locals. Notably, the investigators found no signs of forced entry or theft, ruling out robbery as a motive.
“Initially we were clueless, however, inconsistencies in the son’s statements raised suspicion,” said a senior police official. “His attempts to mislead the investigation were unsuccessful, and during sustained interrogation, he confessed to the murders,” he said.
During questioning, Arjun revealed a history of conflicts with his father, an ex-serviceman. “He felt humiliated and neglected, especially after being scolded and beaten by his father in public,”oint Commissioner of Police (Southern Range), Sanjay Kumar Jain said.
On the morning of December 4, coinciding with his parents’ wedding anniversary, Arjun executed his plan. Using a kitchen knife, he stabbed his family members while they were asleep.
Arjun is a 20-year-old Delhi University student pursuing BA and is a trained boxer who has represented Delhi and won a silver medal in a boxing event. He is an alumnus of Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan, police said.
In a statement the police said the scene of crime was thoroughly examined by the forensic crime team. The FSL team in its examination obtained crucial and clinching forensic evidence of blood traces that pointed the needle of suspicion over the son behind the murder. A case was registered under Section 103 (1) BNS at Neb Sarai Police Station.
