2000 cops on duty in Gurugram on New Year's Eve

In a bid to ensure hassle free festivities on New Year's Eve, the Gurugram police have deployed 2,000 cops on the job in the entire district. As per the police plan, MG Road, Cyber Hub and Sector 29 market have been identified as key sensitive points which are expected to be hit by maximum party-goers and the majority of the policemen will be stationed here to keep things under control. Police have earmarked 10 places for the parking of vehicles around the venue.According to the police, special programmes and events will be organised mainly at 22 places to mark the arrival of New Year in Gurugram. Besides deploying a huge force, police’s Counter Assault, Police Riders, Police PCR, Crane, Fire Brigade and Ambulance teams have also been deployed with all safety equipment at all these places.

“No hooliganism of any kind will be allowed and policemen in civil dress have also been deployed,” a spokesperson of Gurugram police said.

“We have deployed extra force on all sensitive areas and regular checking of vehicles will be started a day before. We have also put special checking points at the roads leading to Gurugram from other districts. Police teams under the supervision of ACP and DCP rank officials will be checking the areas," said Gurugram police spokesperson.

The Gurugram Police has also issued guidelines to market associations, clubs and restaurant owners to ensure the safety of the locals at night. The police have asked local pub and bar owners to step up their security as many drunken brawls are reported from inside the pubs and bars during festivities.

In addition to this, 68 naakas would also be set up across the city. A senior police officer said that they would not tolerate the offenders of traffic norms, especially drunken driving.
