The police have arrested a man for allegedly shooting a 24-year-old woman security guard in the head with the intention of murder. The accused, identified as Upendra, committed the crime after the woman, Radha, refused to marry him. An FIR has been registered at the Sector 10 police station.
On Friday, we received an information about a woman being shot in front of plot number 553 in Sector 37, the police said. A police team rushed to the scene and found the woman, who was immediately taken to a nearby hospital. She was later referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, where she is currently undergoing treatment.
The father of the woman filed a complaint on Saturday, alleging that his daughter has been married in Kishanpur village in Auraiya district, Uttar Pradesh and knew Upendra, who hails from the same village. However, Radha and her husband had a falling out, leading her to stop communicating with Upendra. Two years ago, Radha moved to Gurugram with her two daughters and began working as a security guard in Sector 37.
According to the complaint, Upendra had repeatedly asked Radha to meet him and marry him, but she rejected his advances and blocked his number. On Friday, Upendra met Radha and shot at her near a park on her way to work.
An FIR for attempt to murder has been filed. The police have arrested the accused, Upendra (23), a resident of Kishanpur, from the Sector 37 area.
During questioning, the accused revealed that he and Radha were once friends when they taught tuition together in their village. He admitted to asking her to marry him, but she rejected him and blocked his number. Driven by anger and resentment, he travelled to Gurugram and shot at her. The police are continuing their investigation, and the weapon used in the crime is expected to be recovered soon, according to a police spokesperson.
