According to the ACB’s spokesperson, a junk dealer filed a complaint that on Monday morning three cops came to his shop in plain clothes. They told his father that he had brought some iron rods from a thief and then took him away for interrogation.

“It all sounded made up so I told this to my father’s friend Hafiz Khan. Hafiz and I then went to the Sector 65 station where the accused demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh for not arresting my father for possessing stolen goods. After repeated requests, they asked me to bring a bribe of Rs 25,000 to get thing going. Consequently I went to the ACB,” the complainant said.

“Acting on the complaint, a team of the ACB laid a trap and arrested the cops red-handed, from the crime branch, while accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000,” a senior ACB official said.
