3 held for cow smuggling after encounter in Nuh
The Nuh police arrested three members of cow smugglers’ Advani gang after a brief encounter near Gurnawat village on Tuesday. All three of them sustained bullet injuries after being in their legs, while three others, including the gang leader, managed to flee the spot.
The injured were admitted to the Nalhar medical college for treatment. Five cows, a car, a 12 bore gun, 11 cartridges, a countrymade pistol, six empty bullet shells and a knife were seized from their possession.
According to the police, the police received information on Tuesday that six members of the Advani gang would load the cows in their vehicle at Khori Kalan, and take the unpaved road along the railway line to go Rajasthan via Gurnavat to slaughter them. Based on the information, two separate teams of Tauru CIA were constituted. One of the teams chased the vehicle while the other blocked the road and signalled to stop the vehicle of cow smugglers.
A spokesperson for the Nuh police said upon seeing the police team, the accused started reversed their vehicle, and hitting the government vehicle, tried to flee the spot. After a chase of over 1 km, they threw a cow and glass bottles off the vehicle and pelted stones at the police team. They also started firing at the officials with the intention to kill them. The police also fired in retaliation, in which three cow smugglers got injured while three others managed to escape the spot.
“Those injured were identified as Varis, a resident of Kharkari village, Rafiq, a resident of Khor-Basai village, and Ramjan, a resident of Bhootalka village in Nuh district. Those who managed to flee away were identified as Shahid, the gang leader; Arman and Sabbir, all residents of Kharkari village. An FIR has been registered at the Sadar Tauru police station and police teams are conducting raids to nab the absconding accused,” said the police spokesperson.
