3 held for stabbing man to death in Vasant Kunj
A 40-year-old labourer was found stabbed to death and left under the Masoodpur Flyover in Vasant Kunj on Tuesday evening, police officials reported on Wednesday.
The deceased, identified as John Madrasi, was discovered with multiple stab wounds on his chest and abdomen. Three persons have been arrested in connection with the murder.
A preliminary examination revealed stab and laceration wounds on the victim. According to officials, Madrasi was a casual worker known for taking odd jobs, such as clearing blocked drains and gutters. His bedding was found near the crime scene.
CCTV footage from nearby cameras showed three individuals fleeing the area around 6.45 pm. The accused have been identified as Aman (21), Aamir (18) and Jeewan (27). The police learnt that the trio had gathered near the flyover to settle a small debt of Rs 800. “The three men were drinking when Madrasi, who had his bedding nearby, asked for some liquor. However, after Aman vomited near Madrasi’s bedding, an argument ensued,” said an official.
The disagreement escalated quickly. “Madrasi complained about the vomit near his sleeping area and began to insult Aman. In a fit of rage, Aman broke a liquor bottle and stabbed Madrasi. Jeewan, who had a vegetable-cutting knife, also joined in the attack,” the police said.
