The Delhi Police claimed to have foiled a major security breach attempt at the Red Fort and arrested five Bangladeshi immigrants for forcibly trying to enter the iconic monument.
Preliminary investigations revealed that all five persons, aged between 20 and 25, were working as labourers in the city, an official said. The police also recovered some Bangladeshi documents from them. In view of the Independence Day celebrations, the Delhi Police have heightened security measures near the monument.
“The Delhi Police are alert in view of the Independence Day celebrations. We have made multi-layer security arrangements. People are allowed to enter certain areas only as per the level of authorisation granted to them. During a check, our staff at Nishad Raj Marg stopped five individuals who failed to produce a valid entry pass or ID. During further investigation, it was found that all of them were Bangladeshis,” said DCP, North, Raja Banthia.
