5-km chase ends in cow smugglers’ arrest on e-way
In a daring attempt to escape the police, cow smugglers drove a punctured canter for approximately 5 km on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. The Nuh police pursued and apprehended two smugglers. A total of 24 cattle were loaded in the canter, including eight dead and 16 live cows, which were recovered by the police and sent to a gaushala.
An FIR has been registered at the Ferozpur Jhirka police station against three individuals, including the unknown owner of the vehicle. The arrested suspects have been identified as Tarif, a resident of Salaheri village, and Jafru, a resident of Piproli village in Nuh district.
According to the police, a team from the CIA, Ferozpur Jhirka, was on night patrol on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway on Wednesday. The police set up a barricade and waited for the smugglers. After about 15 minutes, the smugglers' canter was spotted approaching. When signalled to stop, the suspects sped up and broke through the barricade.
Sub-Inspector Ram Kumar, stated that during the chase, the front tyre of the canter was punctured. Despite this, the driver continued at high speed for about 5 km on the rim. The police continued the pursuit and eventually apprehended two of them.
