50L outpatients, 3.1L surgeries in a year: AIIMS Director highlights achievements on Institute Day

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, marked its 70th Institute Day on Thursday, focusing on healthcare, education, research, and digital governance.

The event featured the golden jubilee oration on “Making health research relevant and real-world in a complex milieu”.

In his address, AIIMS Director M Srinivas presented the institute’s achievements over the past year.

He said AIIMS had treated over 50 lakh outpatients, admitted more than 3.2 lakh inpatients, and performed over 3.1 lakh surgeries, including

complex procedures.

Initiatives highlighted included AI-based diagnostics, robotic surgeries, predictive analytics, clinical protocols for patient safety, and real-time

public dashboards.

Srinivas said the institute retained its top ranking among medical institutions in India for the seventh consecutive year. The institute had advertised 261 Assistant Professor posts, with screening underway, to strengthen teaching and clinical capacity.

On research, he said, AIIMS led a national consortium on healthcare AI, covering dermatology, ophthalmology, radiology, and primary care. Partnerships with IITs, the All India Institute of Ayurveda, and international institutions aimed to expand research and innovation, he added. The Director also highlighted progress in digital governance, including generating over 10 lakh ABHA IDs and launching SANTUSHT, a dashboard-based grievance system for patients and staff.

“With the dedication of our faculty, staff, and students, AIIMS will continue to shape the future of healthcare in India and beyond,” he added.
