52-year-old dies in fire in West Delhi house

The fire is suspected to have started due to a short circuit

In a shocking incident, a 52-year-old died after a fire broke out at a house in Chand Nagar, Tilak Nagar, West Delhi, police said on Monday.

The deceased, identified as Sunil Kumar Ginotra (52), was alone at the house when the blaze started.

According to the police officers, a PCR call was received at morning hours regarding a fire in a house.

Upon receiving the call, local police and fire brigade teams reached the spot immediately and brought the fire under control.

As per initial inquiry, the fire is suspected to have started due to a short circuit in the office godown located on the ground floor of the premises, an official said.

The deceased, who was alone at the time, succumbed to burn injuries on the spot, the police officer added.

The house where the fire broke out belongs to the cousin of the deceased, the official mentioned.

The crime team inspected the site, and the dead body has been shifted to DDU Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Prima facie, no foul play is suspected, and a further investigation is in progress, the police officer said.
