As the BJP government in Delhi completed six months in power, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday launched a campaign alleging the government of betraying voters and failing to deliver on key promises, including a monthly Rs 2,500 honorarium and free gas cylinders for women.

“We are now accepting ‘Chori ki Shikayat Dein’ (register complaints of theft) against the Centre. It has been six months of BJP’s rule in Delhi and there is discussion among the women of the city that theft has occurred,” said AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj at a press conference.

“The first theft was of votes. BJP won the Delhi Assembly election by deleting genuine voters’ names and creating fake votes,” he alleged.

Accusing the BJP of deceiving women, Bharadwaj added, “BJP has committed a theft of Rs 2,500. Women in Delhi are distraught and wondering whether PM Modi actually sent the Rs 2,500 that he had promised would be given monthly from March 8. Till now, not a single woman has received it. This means the Rs 2,500 due to women has been stolen. Women are filing complaints regarding this theft.”

He claimed complaints are also being lodged about the missing free gas cylinders. “PM Modi had promised free cylinders for Holi and Diwali. Holi is long gone; however, the cylinders never arrived. The Prime Minister can never lie, so surely he must have sent them — they must have been stolen on the way,” Bharadwaj said.

The campaign, which aims to collect grievances under the theme of ‘theft of promises’, would reportedly run across various parts of the city in the coming weeks, with AAP seeking to highlight what it describes as the BJP’s unfulfilled assurances to Delhi’s electorate.
