67-yr-old security guard killed in stray bull attack
A 67-year-old man was killed after being attacked by a stray bull in Alipur here on Friday morning, the police said on Saturday. Shortly after, another elderly man was injured by the same animal.
According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Ashok Kumar, a security guard, who hailed from Jalaun in Uttar Pradesh. He was returning home from his night duty in Nehru Enclave when the bull attacked him.
“Eyewitnesses informed us that the stray bull tossed Kumar in the air multiple times and hit him with its horns. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North) Nidhin Valsan.
Shortly after, another man, 60-year-old Ram Lakhan, was also attacked by the same bull.
“Lakhan told us that after assaulting Kumar, the animal struck him as well. Fortunately, he did not sustain any major injuries,” said an official.
The police said they had initiated inquest proceedings and do not suspect foul play in Kumar’s death. “There are no indications of any criminal involvement. This appears to be an unfortunate incident involving a stray animal,” the official added.
