A police investigation has revealed that seven cyber criminals arrested by the Gurugram cyber police had duped more than 5,000 people across the country of about Rs 75 crores. The accused were arrested during the last three months, their mobile data revealed this shocking revelation.
According to the police, the arrested accused were identified as Sachin Kumar, Hitesh, Rahul Pandey, Mohammad Shahzad Ansari, Abhishek, Shivraj and Amarnath, natives of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. A total of 5 mobile phones, 4 SIM cards and Rs 3 lakh were seized from their possession.
“After reviewing the data from the I4C of the mobile phone, SIM cards recovered from these 7 cyber fraudsters, it was revealed that these mobile phones, SIM cards were used to commit cyber frauds across India. With 5,555 complaints and 199 cases having being registered against these miscreants, the quantum of the fraud was found to be around Rs 75.06 crore. Of the 199 cases registered at different places across the county, 16 were logged in Haryana, including five in Gurugram. A further probe is underway,” ACP (Cyber).
