7 rescued after fire engulfs building in Mohan Garden

Seven even people were rescued after a fire broke out in a four-storey residential building in west Delhi’s Mohan Garden area on Diwali night.

According to the police, a PCR call was received at 9:49 pm on Monday about the blaze in a dwelling in Mohan Garden. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh said, “A total of seven people from three families were rescued from the building. Four of them were pulled out with the help of ropes by local residents and police before the arrival of the fire brigade, while the remaining three were rescued by fire personnel.”

Those rescued have been identified as Harvinder Singh (34), his wife Priya (27), Virender Singh (32), his wife Premvadha, and Rakhi Kumari (40) with her two children, Vaishnavi Sinha (15) and Krishna Sinha (10). All of them escaped unhurt, the DCP added.

In a separate incident, a fire broke out near Gate No. 31 of Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday afternoon. The DFS received a call at 1:51 p.m. about a blaze in flat number 19 at Narmada Apartments. Five fire tenders were dispatched, and the flames were doused within 20 minutes.
