7th arrest in GTB Hospital shooting case
New Delhi, July 19
The Delhi Police have arrested another person linked to the shooting incident at the Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital on July 14, officials said on Friday. The police have arrested six other persons in the case so far.
The accused, identified as Aman (alias Shavez), is a resident of Seelampur. He has studied up to Class VIII, and was working at a jeans shop on the Tank road in Karol Bagh.
Aman was arrested on Wednesday after the police received a tip-off about his meeting with an accomplice at the Ghazipur paper market in East Delhi between 9.30 pm and 10 pm.
The police spotted Aman in the market while he was riding a motorcycle at 9.45 pm. As the police team intercepted his vehicle, the accused attempted to open fire at the officials, who swiftly overpowered him.
The police said during the interrogation, Aman (21) confessed to his involvement in the shooting incident at the GTB Hospital, where he and his associates had shot a person.
The accused had intended to kill Wasim Hasmatwala, a member of a rival gang. However, due to mistaken identity, they ended up shooting a patient named Riyazuddin.
