Nearly 87 per cent of all undergraduate seats up for grabs at the University of Delhi were already taken after the first round of admission that concluded on Wednesday. More girls have been admitted than boys.

Official figures released by the university show a total of 62,565 students have confirmed their admissions across various colleges and programmes under the university’s Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) for the 2025-26 academic session.

The total UG intake capacity at DU is 71,642.

Of the total confirmed admissions, 34,014 are female candidates, while 28,551 are male, reflecting a strong participation of women in the admission process.

DU officials also confirmed that 16,126 students had frozen their seats, indicating that they were satisfied with their allotted courses and did not wish to participate in the upgrade process.

However, a significant chunk among those with confirmed admission — 43,741 candidates — have opted to upgrade their preferences.

These students now have the opportunity to reorder their choices through the live Upgrade Window.

In a helpful move for candidates seeking better seat options, the university has also uploaded the list of vacant seats as of 2.01 pm on July 24 on its official website (https://www.du.ac.in/). This transparency allows students to make informed decisions while rearranging their preferences for an upgraded allotment.

The university has also notified that second round of the admissions will commence from 5 pm on July 28 and continue until 4.59 pm on July 30. Candidates participating in the upgrade process or those who did not get a seat in the first round can look forward to the next phase.

Officials have urged students to regularly check the CSAS portal and official university announcements to avoid missing important deadlines in this highly competitive admission cycle.

Top five UG courses opted by the students in University of Delhi (DU) after first round were BCom (hons), BA (hons) political science, BSc (hons) zoology, BTech (hons) mathematics and humanities, and BCom.
