AAP, BJP slug it out over leaked CAG report on Delhi excise policy scam
Fresh trouble has arisen for the AAP ahead of the Assembly elections in Delhi as another Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) leaked report alleging a loss of Rs 2,026 crore in the now scrapped Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22 to the government exchequer has been brought forth by the BJP.
The report allegedly outlines the losses and the violation in the policy which saw the top leadership of the AAP including the chief and the then Chief Minister landing behind bars for six months, in the alleged scam being probed by central investigative agencies. However, the report is yet to be officially released among the other 13 reports that are yet to be tabled in the Delhi Legislative assembly.
The purported CAG report, parts of which have reached the public domain, has given BJP enough material to fire fresh salvos.

BJP MP Anurag Thakur said that the alleged scam is worth Rs 2,026 crore and accused the AAP and former CM Kejriwal of misleading Delhi residents.
Thakur stated, “Even though this is the year 2025, I am here to talk about 2026 as the liquor scam is worth Rs 2,026 crore. The AAP spoke about ‘pathshalas’ (schools), however, they have created ‘madhushalas’ (liquor houses). The party has transitioned from brooms to liquor.”
“During the pandemic, when the public faced hardships, AAP was content because the fabric of the liquor scam was being woven,” he asserted.
Thakur also questioned if the policy was so good then why did the AAP-led Delhi Government take it back?
Thakur claimed Arvind Kejriwal was the ‘kingpin’ of the alleged scam, referring to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) chargesheet that names him. “The past ten years of the AAP regime in Delhi are marred by scams and misdeeds. They used to speak of ‘swaraj’ (self-governance); however, now it’s all about alcohol. Eight ministers, 15 MLAs, one MP and even the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister have been jailed. No other government since independence has committed as many wrongdoings as AAP,” Thakur continued.
Meanwhile, the AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh questioned the authenticity of the purported report.
“Where is the CAG report? Do you have a copy? Is it made at the BJP office? The BJP is scared. They have become mentally unstable. We cannot respond to everything. On one hand, they are saying the CAG report has not been tabled, but on the other, they say it has been released. What do they mean?” Singh said.
Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena had written to the Delhi CM Atishi to lay the pending 14 CAG reports in the Delhi Assembly in the last two sessions.
