AAP councillors on Monday joined Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s Multi-Task Staff (MTS) workers, who are on strike demanding equal pay for equal work, accusing the BJP-ruled civic administration of “criminal neglect” of both employees and public health.

The protest, led by MCD Leader of Opposition Ankush Narang, saw AAP leaders gather in solidarity with over 5,000 MTS employees whose indefinite strike has entered its eighth day, stalling crucial fogging and tank-checking operations across Delhi.

“Despite the city battling a surge in dengue, malaria and chikungunya, the BJP Mayor remains indifferent,” Narang said. He accused the mayor of showing “complete apathy” towards the striking employees and warned that the Capital’s health situation could worsen if immediate action was not taken. Narang said that he had earlier arranged a meeting between the striking workers and the Medical Health Officer (MHO), but the assurances given were never fulfilled.
