AAP councillors on Wednesday staged a protest in front of the Mayor’s office at the civic centre here over waterlogging in the national capital.

During the protest, party’s MCD co-in-charge and former MLA Praveen Deshmukh said just an hour of rain threw Delhi into chaos.

“Despite boasting a four-engine government, the BJP has failed to stop waterlogging. If Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh is unable to check waterlogging in the MCD areas, he must vacate his chair,” he said.

Echoing similar sentiments, former mayor Shelly Oberoi said: “Everyone saw the condition of Delhi on Tuesday. Water was up to the knees. This is the reality of BJP’s promises. Their government in Delhi has collapsed. In the coming days, it will be clear how the people of Delhi are going to reject the BJP.” A brief spell of rain exposed the BJP’s false promises, she said.

“It was clearly visible on Tuesday how their four-engine governance model has collapsed. From VVIP zones to residential colonies, there was water everywhere. Roads turned into ponds. Even government hospitals were flooded,” Oberoi mentioned.
