Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva launched a scathing attack on former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday, accusing him of losing his mental balance due to fear of losing power. Speaking at a press conference, Sachdeva condemned Kejriwal’s recent remarks about Purvanchal voters and criticised his handling of the city’s affairs.

“Kejriwal ji, you are punishing the people of Delhi because of your fear of losing power. You can blame the BJP, but please do not disturb the peace and harmony of Delhi. You have already caused enough harm by halting development and mismanaging the state treasury,” Sachdeva said.

The BJP president also condemned a controversial poster released by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), calling it a desperate attempt to shift blame. “The poster you released today reflects your frustration. BJP condemns it and urges you to withdraw it if you have any shred of morality left,” he added.

Sachdeva further criticised Kejriwal’s actions following his release from jail in September 2024, following a Supreme Court order. He claimed that Kejriwal’s failure to resign immediately marked the beginning of his political downfall. “When you were granted bail on September 13, you should have resigned the same day. By not doing so, you sealed your political fate,” said Sachdeva.

He also addressed Kejriwal’s treatment of Atishi, calling her a “temporary Chief Minister,” which he labeled as a disrespect to constitutional norms and a reflection of Kejriwal’s patriarchal mindset.

The BJP leader did not spare Kejriwal’s handling of communal issues either. He referred to a false rumour spread by AAP on January 1 about the Lieutenant Governor getaing a temple demolished, which was later proved untrue. “You and Marlena tried to disturb Delhi’s communal harmony, but you failed,” said Sachdeva.
