Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders have formally submitted a complaint with the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against BJP leaders Parvesh Verma and Manjinder Sirsa for allegedly distributing cash to voters in the New Delhi constituency where AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal is the sitting MLA.

“They have only received the complaint. No official assured us of any action...What the ED will do, I can’t say about that...They have given the official receiving of the complaint,” party leader Sanjay Singh, who himself went to the ED office, told mediapersons.

Notably, several AAP leaders, including Chief Minister Atishi, yesterday levelled allegations against Verma for distributing cash at his official residence, 20 Windsor Place.

“Women were brought in from slums and colonies of the constituency, asked to fill forms featuring Parvesh Verma’s photo and were given Rs 1,100 in envelopes after submitting their voter IDs,” CM Atishi had said.

She stated that several reporters captured video evidence of the incident, which allegedly showed women leaving the premises with BJP pamphlets bearing photos of Parvesh Verma and other senior BJP leaders along with envelopes containing cash.

Former CM Arvind Kejriwal also levelled the same allegations and stated that during his visit to various areas in his New Delhi constituency, residents reported BJP agents openly purchasing votes.

Responding to the allegations, BJP MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat said Sanjay Singh should check his own report card before entering the ED office.

“During the Covid pandemic, BJP leader Parvesh Verma was distributing medicines and rations, while Sanjay Singh and his party’s former Chief Minister were indulging in luxuries like ‘Sheesh Mahal’ and dubious excise policies,” the west Delhi MP said.
