Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the last day of campaigning for the Delhi Assembly election promised to develop a Yamuna riverfront within the next three years if their party comes to power and simultaneously vowed to clear the three landfill sites where he said the government will develop gardens.

“Kejriwal failed to clean the Yamuna, but soon after BJP comes to power, work on developing a Yamuna riverfront will be completed within three years,” Shah said while addressing a public meeting at the high-profile Jangpura Assembly seat from where BJP’s Tarvinder Singh Marwah has been pitted against former deputy CM Manish Sisodia.

The Home Minister in a poll speech minced no words to attack AAP and its leaders over a range of issues while appealing to the people to ensure the victory of BJP.

“When BJP seeks votes in the next election, the drainage and sewer water issues will be addressed. The mountains of garbage in Delhi will be cleared and electricity will be generated from it. A garden will be developed at those locations and handed over to the people of Delhi,” he said.

Firing a fresh salvo at Sisodia, Shah said he is the only education minister in the country who went to jail in connection with a liquor scam. “As Deputy CM, Sisodia focused only on opening liquor shops near gurdwaras, temples, and schools. He is the only education minister in the country to have been jailed in a liquor scam,” Shah said. He referred to Kejriwal and Sisodia as “bade miyan and chote miyan”, accusing them of “looting” Delhi.

The Home Minister highlighted the dilapidated condition of roads in the city, which he claimed are full of potholes. “During rains, half of Delhi’s roads turn into ponds. Arvind Kejriwal has broken every promise he made. This is why more than 50 per cent of AAP MLAs had their tickets changed, and many left the party,” he said, adding the AAP convener will lose from the New Delhi seat.

Shah stated that in 10 years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has worked to eradicate terrorism from India, and by March 31, 2026, Naxalism will also be eliminated from the country.

“BJP had promised to abrogate Article 370, and he did that on August 5, 2019. Back then, Arvind Kejriwal, Rahul Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee, Mehbooba Mufti, Akhilesh Yadav and MK Stalin, all opposed it and claimed that removing Article 370 would lead to rivers of blood flowing in Kashmir. However, no one even dares to throw a pebble now,” Shah said.

He said that around 2.08 crore people have started visiting Kashmir for tourism, and “in Lal Chowk, where the Tricolour was once not hoisted, now processions for Krishna Janmashtami are being organised”.
