In the battle to take credit for the inauguration of the first phase of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) from Delhi to Meerut, AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said despite ‘immense persecution’ by the Centre, the work in Delhi did not stop.

“They subjected us and our party to immense persecution. Despite all this, we resolved that no matter what, the work for Delhi must not stop.” the former Delhi Chief Minister said. “Delhi’s progress is AAP’s No. 1 priority, and today’s developments are the biggest example of our commitment,” he said. He noted that despite challenges, including the imprisonment of AAP’s top leaders, the party prioritised the welfare of Delhiites. “Even if we had to beg or bow down, we ensured that Delhiites were not hassled,” Kejriwal remarked.

“The RRTS, a joint effort of the Central Government, Delhi Government, UP Government, and Haryana Government, is connecting the NCR region with Delhi,” CM Atishi said, adding that the Delhi government contributed Rs 1,260 crore to the project.

Speaking about the expansion of the Delhi Metro, Atishi added, “Over the last ten years, 200 kilometers of metro lines have been built, and another 250 kilometers are under construction. The Delhi Government has invested Rs. 7,268 crore in the Delhi Metro during this period.”

“The work and speed of the AAP government are double or even triple than those of other governments,” Kejriwal critiqued. “To those who accuse the Aam Aadmi Party of frequent conflicts, the commencement of these three projects is a response that we work solely and exclusively for the people of Delhi.” he added.

The AAP chief credited the party’s resilience for the timely inauguration of these projects. Meanwhile, Kejriwal launched an attack on PM Modi claiming that the latter failed to deliver on key promises made to Delhi’s rural populace during the 2020 elections.

In response to Modi’s rally in Rohini on Sunday, AAP convener said that out of those 38 minutes, he spent about 29 minutes abusing the people of Delhi and the elected government of Delhi.

He urged the PM to address promises made during the 2020 elections, particularly the repeal of Sections 81 and 33 of the Delhi Land Reform Act. These sections, Kejriwal claimed, have entangled small farmers in legal disputes, forcing them into frequent court visits.

The AAP leader also pointed out the lack of progress on granting ownership rights to farmers in Delhi’s rural areas. He also criticised the delay in notifying the Delhi Master Plan 2041, stating it has stalled the city’s development. Kejriwal accused the BJP of using divisive rhetoric instead of addressing critical issues.
