Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva accused the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government of neglecting the long-standing issue of disputed water bills and resorting to theatrical tactics instead.
Sachdeva said, “It is now clear that the Arvind Kejriwal government has no interest in resolving the issue of disputed bills, which is affecting millions of consumers of the Delhi Jal Board (DJP).”
Highlighting the prolonged nature of the crisis, Sachdeva lamented the government’s inaction over the past three to four years. He suggested that the issue was being raised again only to divert attention from various scandals and corruption plaguing the government.
He said, “The crisis of disputed bills has been looming in front of consumers for almost three to four years, but the Kejriwal government never paid any attention to it. However, as soon as the effect of various scams and corruption of the government reached up to the CM’s collar, the government suddenly raised the issue of hefty water bills to divert public attention.”
Sachdeva criticised the AAP government for inciting chaos in the ongoing session of the Delhi Assembly rather than focusing on pertinent matters such as the presentation of the budget. Condemning the act of burning effigies of BJP members within the Assembly precinct, he labelled it as a deliberate attempt to tarnish the dignity of the institution.
Sachdeva urged the government to nullify all the contested bills and present a white paper on the air flow meters responsible for disputed bills.
